Molto brava ma insomma, da qui a definirla la Sutherland italiana....molti di questi fa sono emessi con molto stridore, e mancano di rotondità di armonici...insomma, emissioni a metà fra maschera e testa ( indietro)....perfetti veramente a sentire qui sono soltanto i picchettati della Regina della Notte ( il fa dura un attimo). Dove la nota deve essere agganciata e tenuta uhmmm

I will always come back for 5:40 and beyond. The speed, the accuracy, the lightness in her voice that NEVER becomes too much…. No one has come close to singing this song as good as Luciana. Until someone with her voice type comes along, and is most likely inspired by Luciana, we will never again hear this song sung at this level of musicality.

I prefer her live at Stokholm. Here the conductor is too reactive at the beginning and late to her like a clock.

This is not an aria necessarily for gorgeous sounds. The soprano should give the impression that she is breathing fire; spiting venom or tax.

What I appreciate about Mariella is she did not pursue the foghorn sound of puccini. She did earlier Italian and the bel canto masters while throwing in some French and early Verdi. It kept her voice "delicate" and agile. She, Anderson and Gruberova were a collective last glimpse of respectable bel canto technique after the likes of the 20th century titans. I purposefully exclude others because although they may have sung something from Bellini or something from Donizetti or something from Mercadante or Rossini does not mean they did it well or are deserving of recognition. Their technique is nowhere to be found and they should have stuck with puccini and Catalani.

The tenor (Ugo) is my dad and I couldn't be more proud.

An ideal voice for this music successfully combining the power required along with an amount of welcome lyricism in timbre as well.

Great to hear these two together & Dominguez, a really fine mezzo, should also be remembered better.

Lord have mercy, I was getting disappointed because she was seemingly dodging the high E6 notes, but, low and behold, she finished with one of the best high E’s I’ve ever heard in terms of it being a very high note for her voice type and yet she was able to carry all of her vocal weight without sounding too much or too little. She must be a Lyric Soprano because her voice sounds too large to be a Lyric Coloratura or even a dramatic coloratura, because her middle notes were VERY rich, but not at all hooty like a Mezzo. Come to think of it, she could also be a Spinto which is like a mix of Lyric Soprano range and lightness of the voice with a touch of Dramatic Soprano power
